My book, Canteen Kate, nominated for an Eisner Award

14 posts in this topic

I just found out this week that our hardcover book, Canteen Kate by Matt Baker (ISBN 978-1-934044-03-2), was nominated for a 2014 Eisner Award for Best Archival Collection/Project - Comic Books. The awards were announced in April. so, I am WAY behind.

Canteen Kate is the fourth book my company (Canton Street Press) has published and the second comic book reprint book. I'm pretty excited as there is a great amount of collected material published annually in the comic market. The other nominees include a reprint of Jack Kirby's In the Days of the Mob and three Artist Editions from IDW.

I never thought we would be nominated for anything like this. It is a pretty neat feeling.

Thanks guys! I'll say that I was astounded to see the book on the list. There is so much great stuff being reprinted, I'm not sure we even belong on it. I'll take it of course! My son is almost 9 and I told him we were nominated and who the other books were. As soon as I mentioned the DC Kirby book, he said something to the effect - "you're not going to win, you can't beat the king!" He's a huge Kirby fan. I can't even get my son to root for me :)
