what is the back story on this book

23 posts in this topic

This was I believe the rejected cover to issue 10 - replaced (for whatever reason) by the published version drawn by Kirby and Ditko.

This may be a copy of that rejected cover adhered to a copy of the comic - or something of that nature.

Got my reply late last night about asking for more pictures.

Here is the back and forth:

Dear jordysnordy,

NO I DONT, DO YOU NEED MORE INFO BEFORE YOU BUY IT?

-XXXXXXXXXXX

Dear XXXXXXXXX

Obviously I do or I wouldn't have asked for more pictures!!

If you have them I would appreciate them!

Dear jordysnordy,

THE PUBLICATION IS 1974, PICTURES WILL FOLLOW.

-XXXXXXXX

Dear XXXXX

From 1974?

This issue was released in March 1964.

This must be some sort of reprint.

Dear jordysnordy,

THAT WAS JUST A GUESS, I HAVE TO GO TO MY BASEMENT TO RE CHECK.

- XXXXXXXX

That's how we ended off last night.

What a beaut!!

Does this guy really think people are going to throw this much money around without having any idea what it is? Calling a Flash 173 a Flash 17 isn't going to fool anyone who has $900 on hand.

This thread title is fantastically ironic though since it turned out that the book in question was actually the back cover of the Official Marvel Index to Amazing Spider-man, worth about a dollar.
