Black Adam confirmed!

If Shazam #28 is the "first appearance" of Black Adam, doesn't that make Shazam #1 (the 1973 book) the "first appearance" of Shazam?

Shazam #28 is analagous (and thus no more special) than Shazam #1. Shazam #28 is the first appearance of Black Adam since the Golden Age; Shazam #1 is the first appearance of Captain Marvel/Shazam since the Golden Age.

Shazam #1 is about to get pretty popular once dealers like Chuck realize they have lots of those and not #28.. just wait and see.

Even CGC labels Shazam 1 as the first SA appearance of Captain Marvel so grats to whoever speculated on them.. I'm content with my sole fine copy

Also to be fair, I think most hobbyists,Heroclix players and DC fan base likes Black Adam more than Captain Marvel..

George Massu, a heroclix world champion actually designed a Black Adam miniature!

so here we have a case where the villain is just as popular, if not, more so than the hero.

Nice books joe! took me a good long while to find a 9.6+ 28.

wait to sell, you are in a win/win. at this point waitingis a pure WIN becasue most new collectors (within last 5 years) havent even started with DC. look at all the popular youtube guys, they hardly have any DC keys to show because they are going for ASM,Avengers and X-men first.

Most collectors interested in a movie character aren't going to be chasing four, five or six figure golden age books. They want something they can afford, that's a milestone in the character's history, and that's a good jumping-on point for collecting or reading. Shazam 1 and 28 fit that bill perfectly. Value isn't just driven by the technical first appearances of characters. (shrug)

All true, plus #28 counts both as second appearance and 1st modern. That's going to be enough to satisfy the collector on a budget and/or who needs instant gratification for his Black Adam itch.

It's actually a decent book for a post-SA collector.

Is The Rock ever going to be in a hit movie aimed at adults?

I thought "The Rundown," was a great movie.

That opening scene in the Nightclub - still one of my favorite opening scenes.

agreed.

Just give me the ring.

Completely agree with the last two posts above!

If anyone is interested in seeing some of the Golden Age Captain Marvel books, here is some of the effort I put into finding some of them
