top 10 magazines in Overstreet?

43 posts in this topic

If the top ten was determined by demand and price, then I would say yes.

Definitely, and easily.

Kind of thinking importance, not necessarily price.

Importance and price constitute a direct correlation unless we wish to pretend a meaning deeper than the nostalgic pop culture footprint these items command.

Well, if you are talking about what if in terms of Overstreet's Top 10, then it would be based entirely upon OS valuation only.

All of his other Top 10/ 20 lists and Top 100 GA list are based upon guide valuations only. :gossip:

Why "pretend"? It‘s misleading. There is value – and I rarely hink of things I collect in terms of "nostalic".

Then you are missing out on the best thing about comics.

It took me a while, but I finally got around to the research.

Based on Overstreet standards (NM raw 9.2 values), Mickey Mouse Magazine rules the roost. I wanted to list every mag with a value of $500 and up, and every issue of this title fits the bill. With 1st appearances of such mainstays as Snow While, Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket, it is a list unto itself.

For the rest, it was tougher than I expected. While some listings have the word "Magazine" in their title, Overstreet does not designate them as being magazine sized (some, in fact, are digests). While I did my best to include/exclude based purely on Overstreet descriptions, I will gladly listen to anyone who has first-hand information related to any issue that was mistakenly included/omitted from the list. And remember, this list only includes titles listed in Overstreet.

Since many of these books predate most of us, I've included the year of publication and some notes as to why it is valued as such.

Awesome and for sure! I'm trying to find.a nice copy now. And I agree about ML 4 & 7, and I don't know about top 10, but Witzend 1 & 2 are completely awesome.

I think Warrior #1 should be on the list with two big keys in this book "MM & V" it needs to be added on 2c

While I fully expected both of the Marvel Preview issues to get big increases in the new Overstreet, only the Raccoon seems to have done so. Star-Lord still isn't valued high enough to crack the list I shared from 2014. Marvel Preview 7 showed the biggest gains in position and value from last year.

The columns did not move over from Excel very well, but the 2014 rank is first, followed by the 2015 rank (you can see Marvel Preview 7 moving from 31 to 16).
