Conserved Label

I just saw a ST 110 Conserved 2.5 on ebay. The strange thing is all it says was the book was "cleaned". Is a dry cleaning now considered conservation? In the description the seller claims he sent the book out to be "cleaned and pressed" so I would assume a dry cleaning is all that was performed. Have the days of the white pearl come to pass?

I don't think you could have made that scan blurrier if you tried ...

 

 

The label says "cover cleaned", so it was wet cleaned (eg. chemical solvents).

Thanks for enhancing the pic. Are you 100% sure that's what is implied here? It sounds like the seller just sent it to someone for your typical clean and press.

Possibly it was solvent cleaned before the current owner sent it in? From the CGC site it list water or solvent cleaning in conserved and specifically doesn't mention dry cleaning.

Yes, 100% sure - books that are dry cleaned end up in blue label slabs.
