AAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

The holy grail on my want list, Creepy 14, was on sale on ebay up until today. It was an eight day listing for this issue in CGC 9.2 with white pages beginning yesterday. Unfortunately, I'm about broke at the moment and my credit cards are maxed out. I had hoped that the book would go unnoticed for its eight day tenure, but no such luck. Sold sometime today in the afternoon. It has been ages since this particular issue has been on the market in CGC. Just how long? The last sale was in August, 2005! It features the first work by Neal Adams in a Warren mag. As far as tough to find Adams books go, this one tops the list. Well, maybe the buyer will decide to flip it over. I can only wish. I'm sure many of you out there have had this same experience. What gnaws at me was the fair buy it now price of $96. I should have sold a book from my collection at my LCS as soon as I saw it on ebay.

Guess we all have our deep bleeding wounds and the scars. Some say the first cut is the deepest, but I always say it's the last cut! lol

Still a great book, I saved these four books from direct sunlight UV-hell in Sweden this summer (shop owner had them in his store window in direct sunlight, my heart could not take it, I had to do something - maybe that evil psycho-seller knew? hm:grin: )

Ouch, sorry to hear that. It's really disappointing to miss out on a book you really want, and there are still some I kick myself about from years ago.

On the other hand, I've missed a couple of books on Heritage only to get them on eBay a year or two later at around half the price, so sometimes you can win out.

I had a similar experience where I decided to try to haggle on an Adams pedigree book that I really wanted for sale here on the boards. The seller decided he could get his asking price which was fair, and he did get it the next day from someone else. I kicked myself for letting it go over $25 or $50 or whatever it was that I tried to talk him down. Luckily, the exact same pedigree copy came around for sale again on the boards a couple years later and I did not hesitate the 2nd time. I proudly own it as part of my Adams collection now. When you have a rare grail or mini-grail that becomes available, don't hesitate. Be prepared by leaving some money in reserve just in case.

bro if you can't pull out $96 for a grail of yours, then...well you made the right choice in not taking it. I applaud your restraint, and I genuinely wish you get another shot at it in the future.
