If the stain protrudes throughout the book, I can see why it got a 2.5 - it's pretty significant.

That's what's wrong with the technical aspect of grading - I'd be all over this book as a collector

The stain is only on the back cover, no other pages were affected.

 

Oh well, I still think the X-Men 2 is the best looking 2.5 I've ever seen. I got it for less then guide and it looks great in a Mylar with a board.
