Has a list ever been created for the characters?

Scalped was kind of like that, but not as grand of a scale.

Not sure exactly what you mean. There's Wikipedia, obviously.

There's also THIS SITE, which I used to check out when the series is running. It's pretty good, but unfortunately they stopped updating it before the books finished, so it's not quite complete.

I don't think it would last as TV show, unless they can really condense the content of the first 30 or so issues. Ratings is always king, 100 bullets really takes a while to get going, and the majority of the audience would be people who have not read 100 bullets, and lot of people decide to dump tv show after first few episodes (even after only the first episode) because there is so much competition on tv

I completely disagree. I think if you have a different suitcase proposition in each episode while slowly introducing some of the Minutemen mythos audiences would be hooked early.

Yes, I think that's how you'd have to do it. Let's face it, the overall plot of the books is way too much for TV. I would anchor the TV series to the suitcase proposition too - gives more scope for new mini stories, with the Minutemen in the background, the focus being on their hidden identities and then, once reactivated, their relationships with each other. There'd be a lot of potential for someone with a cameo role in episode X appearing as a Minuteman in episode X+5 for example.

Honestly I think you'd probably have to dump the whole Graves and some of the Minutemen rebelling against the Trust arc altogether to make it work.

I think you could still have the rebellion and it work. In fact, you need the rebellion; otherwise, what's the point of the story. The rebellion is the story; isn't 100 Bullets about the revenge of the minute men?

I imagine it working kind of like Fringe: we get the weird-case-of-the-week shows (in this case, suitcase-proposition-of-the-week shows), with the background being that Graves has an agenda to reunite his minute men to get revenge on the trust. Every once in a while, a minute man gets reactivated. Overtime, we get less of the suitcase-proposition-of-the-week shows and the focus shifts to the revenge as the show ends.

I don't think 100 Bullets is about the revenge of the minute men at all. That's not even what Graves is about. His deal is

wanting a house of his own - that's the result of his supposedly decades-old plan with Augustus that comes to fruition and then immediately collapses because he underestimates the loyalty of some of his guys and the psychosis of others.

I actually found the ending quite unsatisfying from that point of view. And honestly I found Graves himself to be a bit on the uninteresting side as a character. The minute men were the stars of the show for me.

o.k., I still haven't read this series in it's entirety

I have about 60 issues or so. So, instead of trying to find the missing random issues I was looking at the Hardcover deluxe editions available.

Looking for any honest thoughts on these. Nicer than the comics?(looks like the same size, not larger :( ) Worth getting, or track down my missing issues? Does it contain the entire series(one thing I dislike about the SANDMAN TPBs is the reshuffling of the issue order).

Thoughts on the Brother Lono mini-series?

I'm really looking forward to reading this series now that I've started getting some of the OA. Risso is just awesome :cloud9:

I can't help in terms of the deluxe editions as I don't own any of them (I have the floppies and normal TPBs).

To the best of my knowledge, they do contain the whole series - issues 1-100. There aren't any mini series etc. to worry about, apart from the (very) short story in Vertigo Winter's Edge #3, which I can see from Wikipedia is included in the first deluxe. If I were you I would check that the covers are included though, as they're one of the best things about the series.

I loved Brother Lono. Really loved it. Got a lot more out of it when I read the whole thing in one go after it had finished, as opposed to reading them as they came out - which I also did. Other than the fact that it features Lono, there's no tie to the main series.

As for OA, the only piece I own from the series is the very first page of issue 100. Was on Risso's commission list for a while, but he's v expensive...

Came across this article about a DC Project that Tom Hardy is involved with:

Tom Hardy DC Project

it’s a DC thing," he shared. "It's really good actually, it contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From 'Ocean’s Eleven,' to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor, 'Pulp Fiction'…It’s a psychological fest, it’s absolutely awesome.

Anyone think this sounds like 100 Bullets? A guy can hope...

Heist (Ocean's Eleven), detective (Batman) and conspiracy (Transmetropolitan).

I think of 100 Bullets too. That or Scalped.

I can't imagine anyone who had actually read Scalped describing it as being like Ocean's Eleven or Batman, let alone both!

Scalped is detective work, action and conspiracy centered around the president of the Tribal council using funds & resources on things that are on the surface bad (meth houses, drug trade, casinos).

With the Batman comparison, I'm not saying Dash is a super hero. He was a detective.

With the Ocean's Eleven comparison, I'm not saying Dash robbed Crazy Horse Casino. But he certainly run amuck with meth houses.

Well, it's also about native Americans and is funny in places, but I wouldn't compare it to Blazing Saddles...!

Nah, I take your point. It's a bit of an odd comparison for me, though.

It is tough to think of a DC/Vertigo book that draws some comparison to Ocean's 11, Batman, Pulp Fiction and Transmetropolitan.

100 Bullets immediately comes to mind. My guess is 100 Bullets is the general consensus.

The only other book that I can think of that fits that black comedy crime story bill is Scalped. Does anyone else have any other predictions?

Note: I'll have to check out the Invisibiles.

Interesting! I love 100 Bullets. Who do you think Hardy would play? Lono maybe, or Mr. Shepard?

I would guess Lono, but with so many key characters it could be anyone they decide to focus on.

As many are saying, this book just screamed for an HBO or Netflix type series where all the Minute Men could be introduced and fleshed out over a few seasons. It will be really difficult to carry this off as a 2 hr movie.
