Sooo.... What are we looking at exactly?

I have recently come into possession of this beautiful copy of Planet Comics no.70.... Or so I thought.... At first glance the cover looks clean and vibrant with the exception of the trimmed corners...but upon closer inspection the top looks to have been trimmed as well... When you open it up... That's when it gets really weird... Now my question is... Why? I have no idea why someone would cut/trim this up! Please advise, was it indeed trimmed/cut or is it just some odd defective comic.... I've seen albums that had corners clipped to indicate they were closeouts.

I don't think that's the case here though.

Practice identifying/creating trimmed books? It's a weird book to practice on, being collectible,but someone might have wanted to study cut edges on vintage paper.

Thanks fellas (thumbs u I think it's a great collectible. However, I have never seen a book with this sort of "affliction?" My gut is telling me someone dissected it... Although I am hoping that it was just a factory defect.

I'm going with factory wonkyness.I've a few Charltons that have similar issues,as well as Canadian printings of GA books that have been folded in somewhat like that but are siamesed as well.

Me too. You'd need a trimming expert to look it over to be sure, but I'm of the mind that when trimming doesn't make much sense it's probably production related.

 

A beautiful copy none-the-less.

Well... I caved... I got it graded...

I can't say that I'm happy with the outcome...

Completely agree. Touch ups and such, I can understand. Destroying a book? I don't get it

I agree. I have never much been a fan of trimming or color touch.

Why would someone trim a book up like this?
