Do you guys use slab pros to protect your cgc holders from damage?

Just received a few today and they seem to work very well.....I was happy to find out that they actually exist (just got back into the hobby in 2014 after about 5 years and never even knew about these little gems).

I prefer the blue ones over the black.....how about you guys what is your preference?

Here is a picture just in case someone has never seen them before.

Another question I have for those that do use slab pro's is what size of cgc boxes do yo use to store them in do they still fit in the normal sized boxes or is it better to buy boxes for the size of magazines?

To bad they work great and look very nice as well. Plus you can stack them without having the pressure caused by the weight crack the cgc holders. And if you drop a comic on the floor this will also protect the cgc casing from breaking into pieces.......or for cracks as well. Basically I love them!!! I live in Canada so sending in a cracked cgc case to cgc to have it re slabbed would be a royal pain (I do not even know if I have a authorized dealer where I live that could even do this for me).

I believe it would as well for sure once you see them and how they protect your loved treasures it is hard to resist.

I wonder if they ever put a advertisement in one of the Overstreet price guides maybe that would have helped them.

I agree but when I spend a lot of money for me anyways I like to protect my purchase. I also feel responsible for protecting them so future generations can be able to actually see with their own eyes comics from the golden age and silver age.....otherwise one day and I do not mean the end of the world but one day all these comics we cherish will no longer be around.

Imagine if NOBODY cared for their comics at all since the 1930's almost none of us would be able to own a part of history.

We hold the torch of history for so long then we pass it on to a new generation.

I don't think you'll get the CGC boxes or the Magazine boxes to work, unless you stored the books sideways. Just based on what I see from them now, as I've used both (magazine first, until I had enough to get a 5-pack of the CGC boxes from eBay...)

I don't think you need to have a CGC membership to submit a slab for a reholder. But it's still a pain, expensive with shipping. I do like the slab pro product. I have a dozen or so, different colors, but I like Black the best.

The guy that makes the Slab-Pros had a thread in CG a year or more ago offering to send a sample out to those who were interested. I received one and liked it quite a bit, but never placed an order. Just never got around to it. Although there's an element of the ridiculous to the idea (Something to protect the slab, which is what protects the comic...pretty soon we'll be buying Slab-Pro-Protectors that protect our Slab-Pros that protect our Slabs that protect the comics) but it does appeal to my OCD.

I don't use them. From what I know about the product I don't think they would fit into your standard CGC box.

If I need to carry slabs around (for example, to scan them or take them shows) I just put them in a bubble envelope.

I can see the value in owning maybe five of these.

Probably well worth your time to read this entire thread.

Slab-Pro is a Thief

Look for Joeypost's posts.

Looks like John (Slab-Pro) has fully imploded. I was informed by another board member he purchased a certain ASM 28 that was a guaranteed 9.4 book. When he asked me my opinion on the book I told him no way it would get a 9.4. The more I looked at the scan on eBay the more I realized who's book it was.

I had worked on an ASM 28 for slab-pro that was in a 9.0 holder and we discussed its upgraded potential. After a few emails back and forth it was Johns decision to crack the book out and do a CPR on it. When I took the book out of the holder I realized it had some moisture marks on it and knew it had no shot, but by then it was too late. I sent it in hoping. I lost. It not only didn't get the bump, it downgraded to an 8.5. This was the book John listed on eBay as a guaranteed 9.4. I still have the old CGC label to prove it as well as the emails discussing the books.

Book is sent out to get pressed again and submitted against the owners wishes under a different account...he wanted it submitted under his CGC account. Book comes back as a 9.0, not the 9.4 he was guaranteed. To date the board member has no book (was not submitted under his account remember) and no money after repeated attempts to contact slab-pro.

His failure to make good on what he owes me and what he owes this other board member, along with the deception of an 8.5 cracked out slab being a "guaranteed" 9.4 makes him worth of the hall of shame.

I have never said this about any other dealer/collector or board member but he needs to be avoided like the plague.
