Anyone know why Rutland, Vermont was in a bunch of BA books?

Seems like an odd thing to be in multiple books in the Bronze Age. What's the Marvel connection as to why they would do that? Does anyone know?

Yup. Had to do with their Halloween Parade.

Roy and Jeanie Thomas appeared in a couple stories - an Avengers and later a Defenders issue, I believe? Oh and a Beast story in Amazing Adventures if i remember correctly.

It was an opportunity for DC characters to appear in Marvel books and vice versa. When I was a kid, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I totally wanted to go to Vermont for Halloween. SNL had a Super-Hero party skit in the mid 70's as well that I thought was cool, but I was scandalized that the Marvel and DC heroes were fraternizing.

Funny thing is these guy likely look like present day Rutland, VT Hippies, Phish Fans, Dead Heads ski bums,
