PITTSBURGH COMIC CON NOW WIZARD WORLD PITTSBURGH?

6 posts in this topic

"The con, which had been owned by co-founder Renee George for two decades, moves to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center Sept. 11-13 from its previous Monroeville site.

“We are excited to have acquired the long-standing and popular Pittsburgh Comicon from Renee,” John Macaluso, Wizard World CEO, said in a statement. “We are excited to inject the Wizard World flavor in the Pittsburgh market, a city we’ve been wanting to expand to for many years.”

An example of Wizard World headliners includes next weekend’s con in Portland, when TV’s “Arrow,” Stephen Amell, Bruce Campbell (“Evil Dead”), Karl Urban (“Star Trek”) and Pittsburgh’s Ming-Na Wen (“Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) are among the guests. With the addition of Pittsburgh, the schedule of Wizard World’s pop culture conventions will include at least 11 new events in 10 new venues. Shows in Philadelphia and Chicago are among the 14 returning from last year.

Ms. George said the Pittsburgh Comicon staff will continue with the charitable arm of the event, including the Charity Quick Sketch and Make-A-Wish Auction."
