Most bids on eBay for a Golden Age book

14 posts in this topic

This book has the most bids at the moment. Detective 42 in CGC 7.0 http://ebay.to/1AxGnUz

There is another (unslabbed) book with more bids, Detective 180: http://ebay.to/1v2SX6U There has been a rather lively discussion on the Golden Age Facebook group about why this book has gone so high!

Cheers.

P.S. Don't hesitate to update this thread as things change.

On the Detective 180 it's apparently two determined bidders chasing each other up the ladder. Or that's the benign explanation.

Yes...that does appear to be the case. It's still amazing. Some have argued that this book is much rarer than the guide suggests.

A better Joker cover from a tough decade..... I didn't look closely, but probably a solid copy. GOD BLESS...

'Tecs from #100-#200 are brutally hard to find, especially #150-up. Such a pain.

If any GA books are undervalued in the OPG, it's these, across the board, all grades.

Not that I look constantly, but I don't recall seeing that issue for sale on ebay ( I'm sure it has been, but I didn't see it) , where as the Joker covers under #150 seem to pop up fairly regularly.

Really there is no logical reason why Detectives ( and Actions) from 151-to 200 should be any less valuable on average than 101-150. They are all "golden age" and while some collectors may stop at #100 for a run, I don't imagine there is any less interest in issues after 150 to 200, than there is in 101-150. If they are actually harder to locate, there is every reason for them to be more valuable (the obvious keys aside).
