OK, so this is my new favorite book, and I just bought one yesterday from the bay. Question BB, is your scanner auto cropping, or did you crop the cover after scanning it? And, where did you find such a nice copy? :cloud9:

My copy was part of the Arlin Ira Fegley collection. Most of the books that I have from that collection are in pretty nice shape. The top of my scan was photoshopped because it was used in Alter-Ego. The book has a smaller look than some of the other golden age. It is smaller than DC but more like later Timely issues. I added Robotman's copy for comparison. My copy had more room at the top and his copy showed the entire foot at the bottom.

So, you're saying it's a little skinny, like other Street & Smith books? Glad you explained the scan because it looked kinda strange and I thought, just maybe, that you had just lifted it from the Internet... lol Nice copy...

Can't imagine being in goal without a mask.

Apologize for being off-topic, but this is a simply great comic book about Jacques Plante, the first pro goalie to wear a mask. A Canadian giveaway for McDonalds. Really worth a read!

What are you doing Jamie, copying me and collecting all the Targets? Bad form old sport, bad form... (tsk)

Hey man! You don't own the Target market! :sumo: Those scans are all from comicvine, I don't own them, just wanted to post some.

BOOT - Thanks for posting the LB Cole Sport covers. I have that run too, but haven't scanned in my copies yet.

There's some nice 4MOST and D|ck Cole sport covers too.

Here's some of mine (a few silver thrown in too). I may be out in left field on this one, but I'm going to guess that BOOT is a sports cover collector... :insane:

You might be off base. Maybe I'm a VEP collector...

Bob Powell took over producing True Sport Picture Stories for Street and Smith in 1949, about a year before he started producing his great run on their Shadow Comics in 1950. Wonder if these were his tryouts that convinced S+S to let him do the Shadow?

Here is a bunch of True Sport Picture Stories... Please excuse if some of these have already been posted but it's fun to see them together. These are fat comics full of great sports stories, a mix of then current sports, sports history, biographies, and features from famous coaches on how to improve sports skills.

Have a few more somewhere...
