Any cool San Francisco art museums?

You can't miss the cartoon art museum, especially if there's a special exhibit on at the time. But regardless, they have a really good collection of OA:

And for fine art, in Golden Gate Park, the DeYoung Museum:

And for modern art:

Is there a Steranko exhibition going on in SF now? I mentioned to another Boardie that I'm going to be in the Bay Area next month as well and he told me that I needed to see the Steranko exhibition, but I can't seem to find any details online concerning the where and when. (shrug)

Thanks! The DeYoung museum was already on our radar and will probably be option A. Appreciate the response!

Berkeley resident here. SFMOMA is currently building a new building, so their doing roving collection displays around the city. It'll be great once it re-opens. But others mentioned all the usual suspects in SF proper.

In the East Bay, I'd highly recommend the Oakland Museum of California if you come across the bridge. The art wing is interesting as they highlight California art, especially post-war modern stuff, and the grounds are pretty fantastic architecturally -- mid-century modern building with a lot of trends that were ahead of its time -- use of green space, local materials and landscaping, etc etc.

Scott, I'd recommend the Asian Art Museum -- they have a pretty good show right now on the Floating World.

The Steranko show is upcoming at CAM. Right now they have a show by that Erik Larsen guy.

Also, when you're here, drop me a line. I'll show you some art.

Will be in the bay area next month, and wondered if there were any can't miss museums my wife and I should check out, be it fine art, comic art or illustration art? Any and all opinions welcome.
