"Jalopy" was used when I was a kid... probably an infusion from US films/shows but I hadn't heard it in years!

Warlord #15 came out in 1978, beginning a running plot (and subplot) about the fate of Joshua Morgan after he was kidnapped by Deimos. The storyline continued as a running concern throughout the entirety of the 133 issue run, and was a major subplot in every subsequent Warlord revival. The subplot was finally resolved in Warlord vol. 4 #12, which came out in 2010. Even Chris Claremont didn't drag out plotlines for 32 years!

 

As far as being a legacy character, Joshua Morgan officially became the new Warlord in Warlord vol. 4 #13:
