Just happened upon this book this week at a LCS that usually doesnt have anything interesting...but this book was on the want list ...so

 

Don't know whats going on with smudge area, scanner I guess but its not on the back of book ....

7.5- the spine has it's wear. Looks pretty great though.

The smear could be something the scanner picked up that's not visible to the nekkid eye-looks like fingerprints

I looked at it in the light ... Didn't see any fingerprints ...

I'm shocked that it got a 9.4 because of the apparent spine stresses on the back. The front looks beautiful though. The 9.4 must have been a delightful surprise.

When you look at back of slab the ticks don't look as bad .... Scanner might be making them look worse

 

But yeah was expecting a 9.0

All these spine ticks should not allow for a NM, I would grade this as a VFNM max.

I am speaking as a buyer, these things makes me less confident about trusting 100% professional grading.
