"Death" was a bit much to hang on the wall, I suppose?

You can find them on EBAY as well, though they seem to be less expensive in stores since shipping would be pricey.

The Meijer by me carried a lot of them a couple years ago, they were only stocking a few different covers the last I checked.

Just an hypothesis: since the lettering seems genuinely vintage, they either did a good job or maybe it’s from a reprint?

I never understood why they had to drop the word "death" from a comic. Then again I never understood japanese porn censorship either (shrug)

Japanese pornography censorship has a precise function: to make the pornography even more titillating. More or less the opposite of what happens to the theme of death (seariously handled) in our current culture.

You're a parent and your kid is into superhero comics. You go to buy your kid a poster. You see "DEATH SIEGE!" on the poster. You think to yourself, "Hmmmmm......nope."

Then obviously the publisher picked the wrong comic cover and should choose another.

Right because comic cover is sacred.

I like these when I see them in stores, but have resisted buying any. A quick look at eBay shows there really has been a great variety produced so far. Wonder if any are harder to find than their peers?

hm

Ok, so this lead me down a Google rabbit hole, which revealed that there were already more than 70 of these made as of 2013, so who knows how many are floating around out there now. Off to Ross, TJ Maxx, Meijer and Hobby Lobby!

Man, there are a ton of these I want.. I should have never clicked on this thread, lol .

I know. I bought a couple at the store when I first found them as Christmas gifts (one was an extra for a boardie in the secret santa exchange).

I told my wife what great gifts they would make for someone like me.... I told the wrong person I guess 'cause I'm still waiting to get my first one.

Stopped by a Hobby Lobby on the way to meet the family for dinner. They're having a sale on these, 50% off, which makes them less than $15 ea. Sale ends tomorrow, but I have a feeling they probably run these sales routinely.

Here's what I picked up (passed on Superman 1 and Man of Steel 1)

They also carry these smaller, embossed tin signs, which are very nice. Also 50% off! which makes them $9. They had a ton of these, so I settled on these two:

Ok, I may or may not have a serious problem. Today's hunt yielded results:

More from Hobby Lobby 50% off

Then off to Bed Bath & Beyond, where their retail price is equal to HL's sale price. The wife also has a bunch of coupons, which helped

But if you are seriously wanting to collect these, check out Ross. Hit the mother load, AND they're only $10!

They also had some that are slightly smaller, come with a built-in frame, and look screenprinted. These look sharp

Ok, now I need to hide my wallet.
