Ahhh Charlton. The red-headed stepchild of comic book publishers.

Except for Lightning. And M.F. Enterprises. And Fitzgerald .

I love them for all the right and wrong reasons.

When they were good, they were very very good, viz: Ditko's Blue Beetle's and Question's.

When they were bad, they were so bad they were good - viz: the following - Peacemaker #5

Nothing much here. All good.

OK, it's a ship. Normal, 20th Century tramp steamer.

Next page.

Yup, complete change of ship. Now a "Galleon" of indeterminate breeding.

It's this sort of attention to detail at all levels, editorial, artistic and writing that made them a laughing stock.

I still love Charltons. And I've got a lot of them. lol

I used to read them when I was young. Some of my favourites were Scary Tales, Space stories and some odd titles. Six Million Dollar Man was one among these I had read. Now the question which I've been told and wanted to confirm in here.

I was told that the Charltons in the early 1980s were in low print run to the point when they stopped and went gone. Was that true? I have about 50 books here - most are Western theme like Billy The Kid and Gunfighters, some in war theme.

(I've always wondered if James Hetfield ever saw this last cover when he was a kid. :) )

The mid to late 50's sci-fi, fantasy, and horror books had some decent Ditko stories and the covers were often very nice. GOD BLESS...
