“We’re in negotiations with Marvel,” Walden told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills. “We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to announce something soon. It’s something we’re definitely pursuing.”

 

I thought they just had the movie rights. Maybe that's the negotiations?

I'm willing to bet that Marvel might be willing to make a trade for X-men tv rights in exchange for terminating the existing FF contract & allowing shared-use of Wolverine in Avengers movies. They might even be willing to give up the tv rights on X-Men for just terminating the FF contract. Just the villains that Marvel would get in return would be worth it. Doom, Galactus & Kang being the biggest 3. Add in the Surfer & the other ancillary characters & you could have an (original) Secret War-type movie quite easily.
