Explain the details of the deal if you want actual advice.

Details? Well this is a deal for a af15 cgc 2.5 signed by stan lee and my client is interested in buying it.

That's all there is to the deal for now really (shrug) and that they asked me to find out of he's legit or not and I looked but couldn't really find anything about him.

How did your client find out about this AF15 SS?

And is this a straight up yellow label, or is it restored/qualified?

Because 4-figures (under $10K) for a AF15 2.5 SS unqualified/unrestored sounds "too good to be true".

Googled borod-pavel and came back with a Russian Mafia website.

(shrug)

really?

Really? Common sense dictates Google would be the first place you would turn.

Have you abandoned common sense?

So is this the guy on ebay with 5 years and zero feedback? Also multiple similar user id's from Germany? Yeeep no red flags here....

This really is getting bad.

So much incredible advice has been showered on the OP, and yet here we are talking about a major $$$$ purchase/consignment/whatever-deal with an unknown international seller offering probably the most commonly-scammed book ever.

That is the first thing I did and even reversed searched him and not a lot of info came up.

he has another account with 26 feedbacks so I've asked people he bought from if he's reputable because they are people that have a lot of feedback.

I found it for the since they told me they were looking for mega keys and it's a yellow label with no resto and it's not hard to believe that you can get a comic I had previous deals work out for similar amounts for the same comic and the client got it but I'm not sure about the guy selling it.

Even if God himself told me this guy was legit I'd still pass on the purchase since there are so many red flags.

You have a client who is paying you to purchase books for him (her)? Never heard of that set up before. I'm assuming you found the book was for sale via E-Bay so there should be no issues if you (he) buys it from the site but I'd not go off of E-Bay for such a large purchase especially from someone you do not know.

Yes I have a client that pays me to finds comics for them should the deals work out and that's what I'm trying to find out if it's legit or not.

lol that says a lot I want to see if this turns out as well he did mention something that he can't list it on ebay because there's a seller's limit is that true? I never had anything that valuable and the only limit I had was that they held my money a long time.

What I'm saying is that AF15 is probably the most scammable book there is, so "good deals" on this book with unknown sellers with red-flags just sounds "too good to be true".

I know I'm trying to see it's legit because of much as I love this deal to work out it sounds fishy which is why I want to find out then if he's a scammer I can blacklist him

The potential buyer asked you to look into this seller?

Shouldn't that be your first thing to do on your own?

If the seller has time to prompt you to do some digging why doesn't he seek out the book himself?

It's not that tough a book to find. Surely worth a WTB post here which would most likely result in a response from an established and trusted seller.

I applaud your initiative in this middle man endeavor and sales but it may be very useful to take note at how black and white the established sellers are here on the boards. From buying from trusted sellers to not offering time payments on $50 books.

If one red flag is present. Why bother? All goes wrong and your reputation gets seriously tarnished.

I can't believe someone would seriously go to you to get a book. You're going to get burned kid because you don't have a clue of what you're doing. Maybe you should wait until this seller has more than 50 transactions under his belt. You should also ask if he ever found a wallet with a bunch of money in it and whether or not he returned it. If he has then it can possibly mean he is a big time dealer that you can trust

This is going to be another train wreck.

A selling limit? Never heard of that one. You seem to be spending a lot of time researching if this guy is legit since all the red flags are going off. If even one red flag goes off its better to just cut your losses in terms of time spent on a deal and more on to other books. As others have said - way too many AF 15s out there to be dealing with an unknown foreign seller who can't sell on E-Bay for whatever reason.

Gabriel - this is one of those examples where you are in way over your head!

I understand that you made a similar deal before - but you are obviously out of your element. This does not mean you will not ever be able to make deals like this - but you really should not go near something like this until you are able to comfortably investigate the sale yourself - then purchase the book yourself - then flip it to your buyer.

You should be focusing on purchasing small collections or finding deals in the wild- and grinding out the $5 ebay sales. You will have to work hard - but you will learn and build a bankroll.

You keep trying to skip this step - and eventually one or more of these deals will blow up in your face and you will be out hundreds if not thousands. brokering a 10K deal that goes south ---- and it is all on you and you get screwed and are unlikely to recover. Missing a coupon cutout on a $10 sale? --- so much easier to handle the situation.

Yes ebay does have seller limits - it does not take much to get these increased. I sell nowhere near what many others here do ( I am SMALL fish - big pond) - and I am allowed to list $60K+ per month (and get NOWHERE near that, lol).

Hey that's one of the first threads I made I'm surprised you remembered it. I have people come to me and ask me for comics most just test me but I've had some deals work out :)
