I am a certified specialized conservation technician. I actually do my own g0c2dqui cleaning/pressing. Im mean why would I send it in while I can take the book to my conservation lab where im surrounded by conservation experts from all over Europe with tons of experience. Amazing the stuff they do with paper. anyway here are some before and after cleanings I just started. enjoy

here are some before and afters. Im a newbie and having some issues uploading images. sorry about the multiple threads of the same pics

Easier if you use a photo hosting site. Open a free account at photobucket and upload the photos. Copy the IMG code underneath the photo and paste it in here.

Here is a link to before and afters cleaning g0c2dqui

Here is one from that url (minus the first http):

http://postimg.org/image/6zyv6xifd/

Click on it and you will see a before/after dry cleaning of an ASM. My problem is that does not look like a dry cleaned book. It looks like a photo editing software manipulation of brightness and contrast to make the book look brighter. I took the original and made a similar side by side using Corel Paintshop. Here are the results with just a Brightness and Contrast change. I included the original paring for comparison:

You're a certified specialized conservation technician, but are wondering what to do about your Flash 107?

well - the reason one might want to send them in to CCS is the expertise in specifically handling comics - and their knowledge on how to do the techniques with the lowest chance of damage and risk to the book.

The Action book in your link - the attempt to remove the writing on the color - looks like you have now etched wear zoned around some of the lettering. The writing may or may not have affected the grade. There was a lot of it - but depending on overall condition it may not have dropped the grade. As the image looks now - you have visible damage.

either that - or the image is a work and you are leaving pretty bad "photoshop" artifacts in there......

3rd party pressers I use

https://www.cfpcomics.com

http://www.comicsinaflash.com

And a local guy if you're in Canada.

Have you had better results with these other companies? Better prices?

Yes, definitely.

Dr. Press?

There are 5 in the GTA that I know of. I'm sure there are more. Comic Dr is one.

I think I will try the Comic Doctor next time I need pressing done. The US dollar is too much these days.

Cheers, Howard

I've used Comic Doctor many times ... Happy with results ...Kevin's a good guy .... Easy to deal with ...
