Bought it from Conrad in October 1999. Wasn't moving after almost two years, talked him down to $150. Stupid me. Should have kept it ;)

 

I thought that might look familiar to you, considering it was being offered by Conrad. Cool art, but kind of goofy bad guy (gal?). Best, Lee

I love Sal's work -- he was one of those guys who worked effortlessly within the house style, even as it changed. Lots of highlights for me, but this is the only piece of his I own:

And he drew one of my very very very few outstanding Grails, any one of the various "Elf with a Gun" pages. He sold them in the '70s, apparently.

 

 

Very nice splash Glen! I don't think I have seen that one before. It's nice to know the Elf with a Gun is on your want list. Those were all killer (pardon the expression) pages, except for the very last one, which I thought was a rather undignified send-off for the Elf. Leave it to our pal Sal to turn such wild ideas into (kind of) plausible, memorable comic books. Best regards, Lee
