More Fun Comics #41 (DC, 1939) CGC 2.0

Last Masked Ranger appearance. Creig Flessel cover. Joe Shuster, Bob Kane, and Bernard Baily art.

Apparently one of the only basketball-themed Golden Age covers!

I have mentioned before that issues from the 40-49 are almost impossible to find. Heritage has offered only two copies of this book and that's not surprising since this is only one of THREE copies EVER certified.

So, no, you're not going to find one anytime soon and you might want to grab this low grade, but still nice looking, copy at a relatively affordable price. FYI, CGC notes say "2 pieces of tape on interior cover).

$450.00

More Fun Comics #72 (DC, 1941) CGC VF- 7.5 Off-white pages.

One of my FAVORITE issues because of the Nazi war cover - amazingly the only one for this title that flourished during WW2! Dr. Fate's new helmet appears and the last appearances of Sgt. Carey, Sgt. O'Malley, and Captain Desmo. The cover is by Howard Sherman, and the interior art by Sherman, Bernard Baily, and George Papp.

Though there are 17 copies in the CGC census (four of which are graded higher), I rarely saw this issue for sale.

From the Northern Lights Collection.

More Fun Comics #74 (DC, 1941) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white pages.

Features the second appearance of two long-lived superheroes, Aquaman and Green Arrow. First appearance of Percival Popp, Supercop. Other highlights are Dr. Fate (drawn on the cover and inside the comic by Howard Sherman), the Spectre (drawn by Bernard Baily), and the fleet-footed Johnny Quick.

This is probably the second hottest of the More Fun books from the last two years as #73 started to skyrocket. The last GPA sale of a copy in the same condition as mine was $15,201.00. Even in low grade copies are now selling for 4x - 6x Guide.

Although there are 20 certified copies in the census, Heritage has offered only two in the last two years, and they went years in between obtaining copies. Only one copy grades higher and I presume that is the Church copy.

$15,000.00

More Fun Comics #75 (DC, 1942) CGC 7.0

A really sweet copy of this German War/Hitler covered issue. In the book, a new origin of the Spectre is presented, there's a Dr. Fate appearance, and obviously there are early appearances by Aquaman and Green Arrow (having just appeared for the first time two issues earlier). Howard Sherman cover and art. Bernard Baily, Jerry Robinson, George Papp, and Mort Meskin art.

Only 12 copies in the CGC census and Heritage has very few examples of this book being offered over the last 15 years. This book is also on the rise!

$1,700.00

More Fun Comics #53 Billy Wright pedigree (DC, 1940) CGC GD 2.0 Off-white to white pages.

Currently #27 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age books list and a Gerber "8" or "rare", this is the second appearance of the Spectre and the first time in a story that he's in costume. Bernard Baily created one of his most famous covers for the issue (a "bondage cover").

Yes, this is a strong asking price but the fact is you're not going to find a cheaper copy unless it is complete garbage. And other than the tape stain on the left hand side of the front cover, it's still stunning looking, especially for a 2.0!!!! Don't miss out!

$5,250.00

More Fun Comics #127 Mile High pedigree (DC, 1947) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages.

I love, love, love this cover. :luhv:

It's the last issue of my favorite DC series, sigh. This final issue is called "scarce" by both Overstreet and Gerber. The title had gone to an all-humor format by this time; the best-known of the characters are the wacky detective twins Dover and Clover. The issue has cover and interior art by Howie Post.

There are only TWO graded copies of this issue. Heritage has only sold three copies in 15 years, and no copies in ten years!

There will NOT be a better copy of this incredibly scarce, if not rare, book.

$3,000.00
