Why would someone send this book in for grading??

By having it graded, I am quite sure he felt fully justified at asking more than 9X guide for the book.

 

Since it is now sitting in a blue slab and officially confirmed as unrestored and authentic as clearly stated in his listing, he must feel that buyers will now be rushing in to grab the book at this bargain price since this is an investment grade key comic, as shown below:
