The Walking Dead post #100 Issues

Every month you read flippers brag and gloat about horsing 50+ Copies per issue, citing guaranteed money in the bank.

The wheels on the zombie bus will fall off when it comes to the fact, it is no longer a hidden gem nor niche cult classic with small press runs.

I foresee to age in dollar bins as those holding too much inventory in the name of greed and not flipping quickly for fast smaller profits find out there may be more supply than demand on the issues they are hoarding today in tomorrow's market.

If you are buying them pre-order there is profit to be made. They will sell.

Only a few of those issues sell for more than cover on a consistent basis though?

So many treads about the people looking for the next big book that will hit it big. This thread is the cynical thread. What currently pricey books do you think are set to crash.

IMO CGC 9.8 copies of the first appearances of minor characters like Moon Knight and Luke Cage. Currently 9.8 copies are selling for 5 figures. It would not surprise me to see their value drop over 50% in the next 5 to 10 years.

Dunno about Moonie, but the 9.8 of HFH #1 has always been brutally tough to find. wasn't it a long time before there was a 9.8?

A lot wackier is 9.2s of that book going for $1500-$1700+.

DC Rebirth books. Once they do another renumbering and/or reboot these will be forgotten.

Rebirth has at least as long as New 52...I think DC has learned from their mistakes and trying to get the ship on course. They're going to hit 1000 on Detective and Action Comics, I don't see them wanting to screw that up again.

It's all gonna be about key books going forward. Books like superman #10 where Jon and Damian meet. Even if numbering gets rebooted again to a new volume and supes has a new number one, that book will hold its value. I don't see DC altering continuity drastically for a long time. Numbering might get rebooted and stuff might get shaken up but I think and HOPE legacy is here to stay.

I can't wait for detective and action 1000. I'm seriously putting money aside now in anticipation of their probably being some crazy ratio variants involved with those books and if they are by awesome artist I'm doing it.

In a month after release, yes. But most of the comic stores I go into don't have further than a year of TWD back issues. They eventually get bought for more than cover.

What was cover price on the New 52 books? $2.99 or $3.99?

I think they were initially $3.99 then at some point dropped to $2.99.

I think it was mixed. Weren't Batman and some of the other core titles $3.99 from the get go? I know Harley was $2.99 until at least 15, and was jacked to $3.99 at some point from there. 2c

I have 7 LCS that are either close to my house or work and only 1 has any Walking Dead back issues before issue #140. The one shop that does has nothing before issue #100. According to the shop owners/managers they can't keep back issues in stock.

I keep reading on these boards how Walking Dead will plunge in value but it continues to go up in value. Remember the first issue has less than 7,500 copies.

The Dell'Otto variants -- apart from the extremely rare ones -- have already declined. Which is a shame, as I just picked up some nice ones this week.

Same with some of the JSC variants which were all the rage for a month or so.

Not saying they can't/won't bounce back, just that they are down now.
