Confirms my long standing opinon that:

 

A: Rarely offered comics sell for top dollar

B: Ebay is just as viable sales portal as CC, CL, or HA

Cap 2 is a super key book imo.

 

Besides hitler and establishing Cap's definitive look with his round shield, it's the only Joe Simon cover. Sandwiched between the Kirby #1 cover and Schomburg's first Cap cover #3, what other title in history has a stronger 1-3??

I agree with both points.

Personally I believe that any collectible is only worth, or can be worth as much as any collector is prepared to pay for it. I hope the winning bidder was happy and not sucked in by auction fever. Assuming I had the money I would have not splashed out that much cash for that particular issue in 'unproven' condition.

I really think it's over the top. However if the buyer is happy, that's all that counts.
