Picked this book up at a local mini con today! The dealer that I got this book from had three copies. He said that they were tucked into a SA collection that he bought a while back.

Wow! Way to go! Colors are beautiful. Did the other two copies look as nice?

Thanks. This was the best of the three. Just a couple of non-color breaking corner creases (which could easily be pressed out, if one was so inclined). The other two were still pretty nice. There was also a nice #72, but it had a small piece out of the front cover.

Two new acquisitions, cross posted in the cigar thread. I'm down to 15 more for the 68-130 run.

How did I miss these two books? Nice pick up, seank. :applause:

:gossip: Superworld.

I looked at the 68 at Wondercon, didn't buy it, then regretted it the next day. Fortunately, no one else bought it and I managed to purchase it anyway.

WHITMAN'S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :applause:

:gossip: The best kept secret is that Whitman also provides interior stories in the late run issues

Nothing like a Whitman story -- especially when the art is similar to the quality of those two covers!

Movie Comics 1, December 1946. Lubbers cover. Cool full-page Sheena ad inside back cover.

The scan is BRUTAL to that yellow cover -- it's really not that ugly!

Scarce? I've never seen it.

She'll have to come pry it from my cold, clammy fingers!

no way you're keeping that green dress.

But it coordinates so well with my matching bikini and sedan!

Bah! Not even a wooden coaster.

What's the mix of stories inside?

Inside?

That's right, you're one of THEM!

Big Town adaptation

Flicker Funnies (parody of Gone w/ the Wind -- where have I seen those before?)

Johnny Danger of the Screenland Patrol. Adaptation? I don't think so. Not bad looking.

Filmographs (text)

Wolfred gag

Captain Stand-In

Garret McBard gag

Mitzi of the Movies, GGA mystery

What is this one like? Hero of the second stringer? Champion of the not quite good enough to be first?

A Hollywood stunt-man gets revenge on the Nazi pilot that tortured him during WWII.

The last page says that it's a continuing feature, but it seems like all the loose ends are tied up in one tale.

That sounds kind of sweet. I would never have guessed that origin based on the name but it makes sense.

I thought so, too. I don't think anyone else even looked at them when they were on eBay. #91 is so fresh looking its hard to believe it was printed 63 years ago.
