2017 Calgary Comic Expo (April 27-30)

Thursday was much busier this year than last year, which is a good sign for the weekend hopefully. The one noticeable difference between the past two years - collectors are buying bigger books again.

Sorry, Alan, the plan was Keg downtown initially but we ended up hitting Cowboys casino restaurant at the Stampede grounds in the end.

Thurs I went to the Keg downtown for prime rib, as most other Calgary restaurants closed at 9 p.m. as we did not exit Expo until 9 p.m. for both Thurs and Fri., then there was the queue to get out of parking lot. Guess the forumite posse went to the other Keg without greggy in tow? Classic Andy strategy. The SA Marvel and DC consignment stash potential sale is pending further hard-nosed negotiation Friday.

Thor: kindly visit booth 2022 'Silver Edge Comics' in Hall D when you have time to chat and buy vintage comics from my team.

I wil come by today to say hi

I love the guy drinking his beer.  Everyone is smiling and ready for the picture but he said "screw it - I need a sip bad!"

That Ryan (kimik) on the boards.

Great seller on the boards (and I'm sure in person).  Believe me I've got plenty of mid drink pictures myself.

Some people had a seven hour wait for McFarlane. I heard he was great with the fans - chatted with them and took a bit of time with them while signing. There were huge lineups due to free signatures.

Friday crowd was much better this year than the last two years. The convention was fairly full from the start at 1:00 pm this year instead of just after work like last year. Neither of the first two days were sold out, but today is so it will hopefully be a busy one.

Can anyone put a board name to people around the room.  I see Greggy and Joeypost but it would be great to get a reminder of what people look like.

great group photo by the way!

At the airport. Another successful Calgary show behind me. Looked like it was going to be slim pickings the first day, but patience and persistence paid off. Once my brain got over the fact prices were in Canadian dollars it was easier to process what was worth buying. A thanks to the guys at the Citadel Comics booth (4 collectors and dealers sharing a space together, who buy books from one another at the show and sell them back to each other for a profit (I'll let you figure that one out)) and Andy Greenham from some coin store that is located in a forest for some reason. Picked up some nicebooks from them that made the show profitable.

On top of all that these guys are the salt of the earth. Great ambassadors of the show and the country.

Great meeting Joeypost, the Citadel 4, John Piper, and Marky Mark at Calgary Expo. Bit funny that Thirdgreenham was so considerate in inviting my group of 3 to the Keg downtown that he had to stalk me to the men's washrooms and come to me from behind to join this group ... <3 with greggy and his posse.

Sure. Not sure if the others are members of the CGC forum.

The "Citadel Comics 4" are: 500club, thehumantorch, kimik, and artboy99

I know of two books that were stolen at this show.  One was a ASM 129 and the other was a ASM 39.

May these crooks rot in hell.

ASM 129 and TOS 39 2c
