I would respond with another graemlin quote but fear the sensitive pansies on the boards might retaliate with "harsh" words.

So will simply say, good one.

So you fear the pansies? What does that make you? poke2.gif

"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Inaugural Address, March 4, 1933.

Scale them back please. This needs to remain an all ages show.

Thanks.

Yeah, I have a gf and don't really care to see a hooker shaking her in my face when I'm trying to concern myself with comics for a few hours a day. grin.gif

Hooker? I thought it was his wife! 27_laughing.gifinsane.gif

is my avatar acceptable? 893whatthe.gif

You probably don't expect this answer but yes, yours is acceptable.

She is wearing (borderline) an acceptable yet qwirky amount of clothing.

Feel free to use my avatar as a benchmark.

My avatar shows a lot of skin but holds the line. No one would want to see more of either of these dimbulbs on the beach, would they? Nope.

[Most companies frown upon employees using work-equipment for personal use, like using the internet. Regardless of what is being displayed on your screen, hootchie-mama's or not, you are wrong in the first place.

We have an "acceptable use" policy for the Internet and the compoany has no problem with personal usage (during off-hours, break or lunch), but it does have a huge issue with certain images.

Personally, I dislike broccoli's avatar and gman's. There are a couple of others, too. But I learned a long time ago not to complain. Last time we had a thread like this, I got blamed for all the complaints even though there were 4 pages of discussion before I even weighed in (oops, same number of pages now. Deja vu!).

I'm not demanding anything here. Broccoli and gman asked, so I answereed. Doesn't mean they have to take them down. It's only one small opinion.

And as for the argument about comic book covers -- surely you understand that there is a difference between a drawing and a photograph of a real person? If my avatar was a picture of a guy in a thong thrusting his butt toward the camera, wouldn't that be quite different than a drawing of Tarzan in his loincloth?

Joanna,

Do you consider GA bondage covers offensive?

Drawings. Just drawings.

But you're misunderstanding. It's not about being offended. Let me put it this way. If I had an animated gif of a male stripper wearing a banana sock and he was whipping that sucker around energetically, don't you think you might get tired of seeing it after awhile? Constantly having gyrating male genitalia thrust in your face every time you opened a thread? It's not about offensiveness or prudishness or sexuality -- it just gets annoying after awhile. All the cheesy soft porn images of women are not a turn-on for me, not images I would choose to see and after awhile I grow weary of them. That's all. I don't grow weary of looking at comic-related avatars or photos of you guys because I'm here on a comic site. I would expect to see comic-related avatars. I'm happy to see what you guys look like. These fit the parameters of the board. If I was eager to see photos of women thrusting their breasts out, or shaking their butts in my face, I'm certain there are a number of places I could go on the internet to see them. And if I went there, they would be perfectly appropriate. But on a comic board? They're annoying.
