I can't see having that as a rule. Once you move there, you would have to move to disclosing PM sales.

Prices are "Nice to Know" while restoration and pressing are "Need to know". Two entirely different animals.

BTW, as I said, I leave my prices up, so I'm not really arguing here, I would LIKE to know prices, cause I'm naturally curious, but I can't see forcing the issue.

I'm sure some people wouldn't mind leaving them once they see that there is some interest. Most people probably delete them without thinking about it much.

P.S. It would be impossible to make a rule telling people not to castigate sellers for flipping. If it's not done on the threads, it will be done in PMs.

You KNOW how much guys love to gossip...:baiting:

Agree 100% with everything you said.

I'm just sayin' I like to see the price. Not trying to make it a rule. :)

I think its an important piece of information that is irrevocably lost and that is sad.

If this place wanted to be a regarded as a serious selling forum that affects market pricing it should be known. It would be nice if it was recorded here in a searchable database, both raw and third party graded, available for both browsing and for GPA to record if they want.

I would prefer to know the final selling price and NOT necessarily the buyer if he/she wants to hide that so it shouldn't be a big issue with the buyer (shrug)

Interesting. I like where you're going with this. I do wish GPA made use of sales data from these forums. So many graded comics change hands here every day, it'd boost their database in a wonderful way.

That would be nice, but from an administrative point of view it would be a.) a nightmare and b.) easy to manipulate.

But all of that aside, it would still be nice to be able to see how much a given book sold for when you're interested. If anyone were going to track anything though, it'd have to be highly unofficial.

How do you mean?

I started an idea along these lines (having forum sales reported to GPA) about this time last year and just got roasted by a hand full of forum members. I actually did it with good intentions but there are enough people out there to take advantage of the system (by supplying false data) that many people thought it would be a negative thing.

Including the sales in these forums into GPA would really dirty up the data there...

Think about it...a seller could easily go back and modify the amount in the sales thread (up or down) to manipulate the price (for whatever reason)...Also, there is no verification that the actual sale was completed.

Neither is there on eBay to be honest.

That's actually a very good point.

Neither is there anywhere.

It really is only a good faith approximation of the marketplace, but it is the best of the data pools available.

I would also like to see the numbers on those who ask for a back cover scan, and then actually buy the book.

Dan

And this would tell you what? hm

There should be no stigma whatsoever in requesting a scan of the BC :screwy:

Bronze Age should get its own For Sale Sub-Forum - It gets lost in the GA/SA Sub-Forum. Discuss?
I agree!

I agree too that it doesn't belong with the GA/SA and should "get lost" somewhere else :)

A GA/SA sales forum and Bronze/Copper/Modern sales forum split seems much more natural but that would be a lot of surgical work for Arch and would require heaps of tribute.

No, it wouldn't, no more than last time. I don't want to see it mixed in with the Copper/Modern drek - It deserves its own Sub-Forum.

The reason the sub-forums work is that each "specialist" can go where he wants to buy and sell. Face it, those GA and SA fuddy-duddies ;) (for the most part) don't give a rip about BA, nor do the MA "kids".

A newer member here, pc1009, started a sale recently (ASM 129 + others) and it didn't go over very well. Anyone see it? Comments?

He broke a couple of rules. He was asking for offers on his books. (Later, it was shown that he was also trying to sell the main book on eBay.) A couple of us pointed out the infractions and gave a link to the selling guidelines. Then the pile-on happened. Questions about where the book came from, I don't know if they were answered or if they really needed to be answered. He was attacked for his spelling, grammar, and poor English skills. He was called a person_having_a_hard_time_understanding_my_point and piled on some more. He fought back, the mods were notified and the thread was locked and deleted.

Yes, he broke a couple of selling rules. Yes, he was shown the guidelines for selling. Shouldn't it stop there? Did the rest of that train wreck really need to happen? Was the belittling necessary? Personally, I felt badly for the guy.

What do you guys think?

I saw some of the thread, and yeah, there was definitely some piling on and belittling in excess of what was needed. There's a pack mentality around here, and sometimes folks are overzealous in wanting to protect their "turf" from outsiders. I agree that some of that stuff was definitely uncalled for...
