Signature series - is it easy as this?

Hello all, I am a bit unfamiliar with the signature series process and I wanted to get a few books signature series certified later this year at NYCC. What I had in mind for the signature series process is you get a cgc employee from their table, then wait on line for the writer/artist you want, and have the cgc employee witness the writer/artist sign the book(s) that you want signed. Is this the process to get your books signed and then stabbed with a yellow label or am I missing something?
