In an interview with Variety, showrunner Peter Schumacker discussed the future of HBO Max’s Harley Quinn under the new boss Sarah Peters. He detailed that her "new era" of the series will explore Ivy more than the previous seasons, with a particular focus going towards her position within the Legion of Doom. The Season 3 finale saw Ivy take on a much bigger role in the villainous organization, with the financial backing of Lex Luthor and her placement as the leader of the Gotham branch. Schumacker further stated that Peters has taken the character in a direction himself and Justin Halpert would not have, but that she "did an amazing job." Schumacker continued to praise the new showrunner, discussing how the show has significantly benefited from the perspective of the female writers and proclaiming her as a key part of that.
