I have been on a chess reading kick ,... going over the great Grandmaster games with Fisher and Spassky...

watching them play out on youtube with commentary.......

i used to be halfway decent player as a youth but i probably couldn't concentrate enough to think more than two moves ahead anymore....

 i may join a local chess club when i retire for fun and giggles lol 

i have just learned that mankind can no longer defeat a computer,... todays modern chess computers can compute millions of possible advanced move scenarios and all that mankind can possibly do now is force a draw....

Kudos! I've a lot of admiration for anyone who can play chess at a decent level. I myself am still trying to work out the rules to this, bought in 1965.....
