HENRYSPENCER
I had a couple of books back in the day as bad as this one. To the eye, it looks like oil or something liquid coming off the plastic inner well and could very easily transfer onto the book. I guess CGC has enough inquiries and is confident in what they are talking about.
media_junkie
That holder is ugly. I would not want that in my collection.
nepatkm
This is one is one of the worst I’ve seen. i thought CGC had fixed this problem awhile back.
kav
cant you slip a piece of paper in those or something to break up the rings?
cortown71
Can't slip anything in the new cases. I've opened the new case and what's the issue here is the mylar paper piece against the case.maybe cgc can come up with a solution and eliminate the piece? kav

Popular Post Cringer
Thanks for the responses everyone. I contacted CGC, sent them pics, and they're going to reholder the book for free.....I plan to ship next week. I'll post updates when I receive the new slab. I like pie
Hopefully they reslab it within a week and don't make you wait in line. Every time I see one of these threads pop up, I know it's quite awhile before I can send books in again. Last time they told me they are working to improve the cases
wolverine180
Here is one I just got back this week that my local comic shop sent in. And mind you the pics do no justice. The Newton's have ruined the entire front appeal of book. I like pie and Larryw7
Bomber-Bob
I've noticed that the eye appeal on high grade books is greatly enhanced in the new holder. However, above and beyond the Newton Rings, I think the eye appeal of lower grade books is worse in the new slabs. It's like the new holder accentuates the flaws. I still prefer the old slabs where you could open them more easily and use the paper trick to eliminate the Newton Rings. Another observation, if you are shipping both new generation and old generation in the same shipment, unless you put something between them, the new cases put pressure on the old cases, resulting in cracking. Worded perfectly on Newton flaws in my opinion.
RockMyAmadeus
I, too, much prefer the old slabs, still. They weren't as clear as the new slabs...but they weighed less, and were a lot easier to deal with. I've accepted Newton rings as a fact of life. I know it's not affecting the book, so I just suck it up. However, I'm greatly concern with staple tearing with shifting comics, which is still happening. nepatkm

I feel safer when they use wedges. I have no idea how they decide when to use the wedges.

Gaard
I don't understand why they don't just fix the problem. Obviously, they're aware of the issue, but apparently don't care enough to eliminate it. I got this FF112 back 3 or 4 weeks ago. Sorry about the crappy quality pics.
