Of course, way back when (SA), it used to go something like this:

  1. First issue of title
  2. Classic cover
  3. Condition
  4. Major event (story)
  5. Renowned artist
  6. Headlights
  7. First appearance in the SA
  8. Really cool splash page or centerfold
  9. Lesser event (story)
  10. Personal taste

Then, it began to change a bit in the BA:

  1. First issue of title
  2. Condition
  3. Renowned artist
  4. Major event (story)
  5. First appearance
  6. Classic cover
  7. Headlights
  8. First appearance in the SA
  9. Really cool splash page or centerfold
  10. Personal taste

I'll let you guys take it from there.

Moderns

1. Condition

2. Better get it graded to make sure

3. Condition of the case maintaining the condition.

1. 9.8 or bust

2. Cover art

3. first appearance

4. What story?

Unfortunately you are correct.  With a Few Exceptions Donny Cates, Jason Aaron and Al Ewing are great for marvel IMHO.  Pak is good for Weapon H but the interior Art is so Meh... They also have some sweet cover artists as well.  Having to order 2( at a minimum) is a brilliant move by the industry.   Now Back to looking for Dellotto Covers

That pretty much explains why there will never be another GREAT era in comic books again. The 80s were really it I believe, superstar writers like Moore & Miller marked the end of an era. The only other superstar writer to succeed them (as far as popularity is concerned) is Kirkman

Not to suggest that there arent any great writers now, but just that there are FAR less comic book readers
