I'm taking a 10 day trip to Ireland this Summer with the wife.

We're mostly looping through the southern half of the Island.  Any good comic shops?

I'd love to find some silver age while I'm there, is that possible?

Not for back issues the only one's they have are the comics pushed to the BACK!:) Long box that are drek fodder. As for Dublin I heard there is a good one but I've never been and can't recall the name sorry.

Maybe this might help.

I didn’t see any comic shops on either of my two visits.

Im sure Dublin would have one or two, though.

I visited the Forbidden Planet while I was in Dublin, which was mostly merchandise, new comics and manga; and I visited Sin City which was a small but solid LCS with some back issues and wall books. There are maybe 4 or 5 more shops in Dublin as well.

Did you make it to Paddy O'Schitface's?

Comic Book Guys in Belfast.  My little brother who lives over there says they are about the only store that would be similar to a US comic store.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead but no, nothing to see here ( Belfast) move along!

Comic book guys try their best however they tend to price low grade as 9.0 if and when they get any comics into the shop. Of the other three shops in belfast Forbidden planet stocks only a few years back, Atomic comics has slightly older comics but nothing pass the early eighties then the last is a sort of reading cafe where you can buy or read a comic while you take coffee, that is about all.

You may have already done this but I would google "Ireland comic shops" and go the Maps area.  The reason I like going to the Maps area is that if you click on the link of any particular store, you should be able to see multiple photos of the inside that will give you a feel for the vibe and layout of the place as well as the various items that you might expect to find there.

Hey @gadzukes , the only real comic shop I've found that's worth it's salt is Big Bang Comics in Dublin. It's on the Sandyford Road in Dundrum, Dublin, just outside the Dundrum Shopping Centre.

https://www.bigbangcomics.ie

Unfortunately, no SA books there, but a massive selection of new titles, trades, Artist Editions, statues etc.

There's a couple shops in Cork, One called Other Realms in the Paul St. Shopping Center, and one called the Comic Vault in Cork City, They're both Shit, and no SA either.

Irish guy here! :shy:

Dublin has some pretty decent comic shops, and they all have different strengths.

Sub City - Has two locations, Dame Street and Mary Street. The Dame St. location is their main store. They have a huge amount of graphic novels and a good selection of silver/bronze/copper back issues.

Forbidden Planet - Is located in Temple Bar, on the quays along the river Liffey. It's been recently renovated, and is probably the biggest comic store in the city now. They specialise in toys/merchandise and statues, they also have a huge selection of graphic novels, manga and the latest comics. It's worth a visit just for their huge display of statues and Hot Toys figures alone.

Dublin City Comics - Are located on Capel Street, and a second location (3 minutes up the road) on Bolton Street. If you are a toy collector, they have a massive selection of old toys, transformers etc. They have a pretty decent selection of back issues too.

Big Bang Comics - By far the best comic store in Dublin, from the city centre it's a 20 minute tram journey to the Dundrum shopping mall, and it's worth the journey. Huge selection of books, latest comics (not many back issues though), and a fantastic display of statues and original art. They often have signings in store, so check them out on Facebook.

I haven't been to Comic Book Guys in Belfast. And there is another large Forbidden Planet there too.

Also, theres a monthly comic mart in Dublin city centre organised by ComicBooks.ie , which sells CGC books and high value keys. Depending on when you are in town, it might worth checking out:

https://www.comicbooks.ie/

Generally you won't find too much Silver Age in these stores (Sub City and Dublin City Comics would be your best bets), and if you do, they are often mid to low grade, and expensive. Also watch out for Pence variants!

Enjoy your trip! (thumbsu

I actually like Pence variants so that would be cool.

Warning !....watch out when they try to sell those simple pence issues for the same price as the exceedingly far more valuable cents issues :hi:

Oh yeah..... I would never pay more than 70% of a cent issue and that would only be for a major Key issue.

I only own 1 Pence copy right now (and it's a good one), but I think the market for pence copies is going to explode so I like the idea of picking up some issues.
