Can a book grade 8.5 with a 1/4” cover tear ?

I no longer own the comic and don't have a back cover scan, but having submitted it myself the memory is that the book looked to me to be a 9.2 excepting the cover tear.  The grader's notes would be more informative than my memory of the book.

I see. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful...it looked like it had a chance for an upgrade...
