Try Chicago Comics. Much better selection and much more reasonable prices. That's the only store in Chicagoland I buy vintage stuff at. I bet you will find something if you stop by.

Is it this location -

Chicago Comics, 3244 N Clark St Chicago IL 60657?

I'm going down to Chicago in 2 weeks and I'll have time to check them out on the way home.

That's the one. thumbsup2.gif

Thanks for the tip, I've never been there either, I'll have to make it the focus of my next buying expedition.

I was out there a few weeks ago and couldn't find ANYTHING. Almost every book was priced at double or triple guide, even beaters. They had a box of Adams X-Men issues that had literally been underwater priced at like $20 each. That chain sucks. Period. Sometimes you can find decent stuff in the 50 cent bin, but their back issues should be avoided like the plague.

I was pretty disappointed over all. It was fun at first to dig through boxes of Silver and Bronze books since none of the stores around me have much in the way of that sort of material in any quantity. But after seeing the high prices on so many beat up books, I soon came back to earth and bought a few BA Marvels in addition to the book I posted and headed back to the South Side.

I remember one of my first trips to Graham Crackers in Naperville maybe 3 years ago. I inexplicably bought a couple Golden Age books at really nice prices. It must have been the guy I worked with that day that gave me a nice deal, because I've been back several times and agree just about everything is overpriced.

I've never been to Chicago Comics either, so I'll have to check it out. Thank for the tip.

I saw this Steranko Hulk cover a week or so ago on the boards for the first time. Just a killer image. Even though he only did three Hulk covers (that I know of), they are probably my three favorites.

You rooked the guy at the counter and didn't tell him it was a error copy?

Good for you! thumbsup2.gif

Not at all. The book was on the top of my stack...and the first thing the owner said was "Ah..the pink variant.". He then went through the stack & gave me a price. I paid & came home. cloud9.gif

You can see some of the mags I picked up in the appropriate forum. flowerred.gif
