I was actually thinking of something a bit more humorous. All those round grapes just hanging down, guy has his eyes closed, chomping away.

Yeah, I definitely had that sick picture in my mind, but the word "lodged" had me rolling. Anyone up for tossed salad? shocked.gifshocked.gifshocked.gif

On a more serious note, I'm not real sure how to take this bit of news. It's nice for Darth but I'm not sure how nice it is for everyone else. No offense to you Darth but even you have said you don't know much about comics before Bronze. You'd really think Overstreet would search for a person with a more universal knowledge then just one specific niche. Especially considering new comics are such a small portion of the reason for a person to buy Overstreet. It certainly doesn't make me too sure of their selections for Advisor but maybe he's just being used as a Modern specialist. That might make sense but for Darth to be doing some stuff with Silver or other things outside of his true knowledge base seems a bit of a bad move.

Not really, it just seemed you were saying Murph was being negative.

That's the way Murph and I relate. I make an ambivalent statement, Murph ignores me, then we repeat. It's a secret code that we've developed. We're really sharing recipes for figgy pudding.

Murph - even though I put a few smileys on the initial question, that's what I was seriously asking too - will he just be a Modern specialist for the Review only? And I used the term "fogie" because I distinctly remember him using this term when discussing Gold and Silver (books/collectors).

Considering how many people advise on matters of pricing and the market etc. I think it would be pretty useless of us to exclude anyone who can't provide a completely universal understanding of the entire market and all eras. That would be difficult to find in any event. In order to best provide the most accurate info for all eras, we should be looking for advisors who specialize in certain areas, overlap in others, and therefore provide a focused look at those categories, genres and Ages that need attention and that they themselves are interested in. No one advisor can or should be responsible for everything. A network of focused specialists mixed with some more general advisors is the best way to go, don't you think?

Also, as I think Tom will confirm, that distinction of "advisor for the Review only" is pretty meaningless. The Review, which will serve to provide focused reporting on pricing for a variety of selected books on a monthly basis, and the annual Price Guide itself, are not going to be put together by different staffs in a total vacuum. The two publications will impact each other and hopefully improve both as a result, so anyone who offers feedback will be helping us to refine the reporting in all related publications.

Congratulations darth!

I'm a little surprised at it...I seem to remember you saying within the last month that you're a Wizard guy and never use Overstreet and that you didn't realize so many people did until recently.
