Mystery solved.. and though my heart was racing like a fiend during my initial 30 second glance at the comic, I still feel like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person for not noticing the obvious during those overexcited fleeting moments. To begin with, there's the 50 cent cover price, which should have immediately clued me in that this was not from 1938. But even more glaringly, there's a large emblem on the cover saying "FIFTY YEARS". Duh! Sorry guys. This is the 1988 reprint.

Considering its value, surprisingly I`ve never heard of a counterfeit Action 1, other than someone trying to pass one of the reprints as the real thing.

 

This would be a quasi-counterfeit book since a new cover was printed to fit a resized reprint book. Looks pretty close to the real thing. the missing sweat gives it away. I think the seller found it in his beloved grandfather's attic or something.
