Comiclink is auctioning off a really nice All-Star #8 CGC 7.5 ow/w in their next auction.  Interesting to see if it hammers high due to the rarity in the market at that grade or it tanks like the other copies did yesterday.  Also wonder if the consignor is just trying to get their money out or if they are hoping for a strong result.

Not sure about previous past sales, but I thought the restored Cap 3 seems to continue to motor along at something like 3.5X condition guide for a RESTORED copy: :applause:

Golden Age (1938-1955):Superhero, Captain America Comics #3 (Timely, 1941) CGC Apparent VG 4.0 Slight (C-1) Cream to off-white pages....

The work on this seems easily removable so I could see the price reflecting that and this being in a blue label soon.

That's quite possible, but I just took a quick look at the HA archives for the past couple of years and it looks like this book continues to sell at multiples to guide even in restored condition, as evident by these 2 other recent past sales:

1)  A CGC 6.0 graded restored copy sold for $21,600 or about 3.25X condition guide back in November of 2018; and

2)  A CGC 5.5 graded restored copy sold for $24,000 or about 3.35X condition guide back in November of 2019.

So, I imagine this CGC 4.0 graded restored copy selling for $18,000 or just a bit above 3.45X condition guide is just a continuation of the same pricing trend for this highly in-demand GA book.  I believe the market value for Cap 3 has been right up there for several years now and one of these years, Overstreet will finally get around to recognizing that Cap 3 is actually not only the second most valuable Cap book out there, but possibly also by a relatively wide margin.  hm  :taptaptap:  :taptaptap:

Tec 31 CGC 1.5 sold for $33,600   Hoping it would be at least $40k..  Great price!

Very weak price point. Not long ago it would have went $50k+. Someone got a bargain.

Perhaps. But an informed buyer had but to check the HA archives to see it used to be a 1.0 and the tape pushed it to 1.5. If I were bidding, I'd be bidding 1.0 prices for it.

Don't you realize that the Mods are monitoring these boards here and you need to be careful with what you say here.  :gossip:

After all, isn't it all about that big number on the left  (worship) of the slab and nothing else really matters.  (tsk)

All kidding aside, like the other GA mega keys, another book that now tends to show up in every single auction and possibly another factor why it sold for lower than what other CGC 1.0 graded copies have sold for in the recent past on the CC auction platform.  Really hard to guage sometimes with some of these entry level copies as it also really depends on the particular defects and how the book presents.  hm  (shrug)

Once again, do you guys not realize it's all about that big big number on the top left, and in this particular case, the absolute highest graded copy IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE all by its lonesome.  :makepoint:

It should actually be mind boggling that the CGC 9.8 graded copies of both Hulk 191 and Werewolf by Night 32 even came so close to this JLA 21 since there's almost no more room left in the entire universe to hold the other 132 equivalent graded copies of Hulk 181 or the other 18 equivalent graded copies of WWBN 32.  lol

Well, it's starting to get pretty obvious to me that some of you will have to stay over for detention because you have clearly not been paying attention during class.  (tsk)

After all, how many more times do you need to be told that 9.6 is actually a higher number than 9.4.  It's pretty obvious that those first 4 bozo consignors that sold the book did not know this.  :makepoint:

And the new lesson for this year, is that nobody wants one of their books with those ugly blue labels when the exact same book will be worth so much more money (say like $18K worth :screwy:) sitting in a slab with one of these smart looking black and silver (or is it black and gold) labels:  :gossip:  lol

Golden Age (1938-1955):Science Fiction, Forbidden Worlds #1 River City Pedigree (ACG, 1951) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages....

Why?

So why did this sell for soo much more getting the grade bump, but the Military 1 sold for soo much less?

Guessing some of them possibly got picked up by dealers who'll just hold them until this corona cr*p dies out and things get back to normal.

Well, from my own personal point of view, it's really rather simple. :gossip:

Do NOT paid a 9.6 price for a CGC 9.4 graded book hoping that you can bump it up to a CGC 9.6 graded copy in order to make money on it after holding it for a relatively shiort period of time. doh!  :tonofbricks:

A much smarter strategy is to pay a 9.2 price for a CGC 9.4 graded book hoping that you can bump it up to a CGC 9.6 graded copy after holding it for a relatively longer time period.  (thumbsu  :whee:

On the other side of the collectibles market, I thought most if not all the video games stuff did very well, selling for strong prices across the board

That game console sold for 360K. Holy F.

Or just love em as-is for 5 years, and then release them back into the world in the same condition you found em in

I guess that could be a reason. It just seemed like an odd general statement to make and was wondering if it was a hunch or if there were some basis for it.

Is it okay if they are in the same condition but in a different holder?

Nowhere near as often as Bats1, Cap1 or even Supes1. Not even close.
