I have seen, maybe, two copies better than this (I own one)...and the PQ on them wasn't great. I suspect that issue was manufactured with poor paper stock.

Personally, if this were sitting next to SS4 in the same grade, I'd take the All Top without a 2nd thought. Different strokes.

Well, you can never go wrong with the first issue and first appearance of a long-running eventual Marvel series, especially when it looks like you managed to scoop it up at a very reasonable price.

Well, let's hope Tadano made out a whole lot better with the sale of this All-Star 2 as compared to the huge loss they had to take on the key All-Star 3 sale.  

Looks like the original purchaser of the Billy Wright copy back in February of 2012 made out like a bandit when he was able to flip it out to Anthony Chiafolo for $200K less than a week later through the Make Offer to Owner after picking it up for only $49,293.75:

Unfortunately for Tadano America, it looks like Heritage was able to fetch only $72K for the book in the August 2019 Heritage Auction after getting it regraded for the same equivalent grade in June of this year.

Just one of many reasons I no longer bid in Heritage auctions. Apparently, shill bidding is legal in TX. Just doesn’t seem right or fair.

Then you should be fine to go with bidding on CC's auction since I heard through the grapevine that their platform locks the consignor out from bidding on their own books. 

Of course, that doesn't mean they can't get a friend or someone else to bid and run the book up anyways, which any auction platform would not be able to prevent.

I learned this lesson the hard way on HA. Overpaying with the last minute bids that jacked the books up into the stratosphere

I know a couple guys that refuse to buy from them because of buyers premiums and suspect bids. Another way to look at it is, when proxy bidding, the buyers premium next bid is displayed, and if you feel the price is too high, stop bidding. Definitely different ways to go out there, with respect to preferred auction sites. I only have one experience with Heritage, and one with Comic Link. I preferred the ease of CL and the lack of the buyers premium. Heritage seems to really bring the bigger books and numbers, though. Let's just keep everything here on the boards!!!

I think every auction, Ebay, CC, CL all can be shilled by your friend or seller as a second person and its impossible to stop. So I don't think that Ha...even though in Texas the auction house or seller can bid   is any worse than any other  auction house. You really take a chance to pay the " worlds highest price when you bid...everybody knows that, that is why  my auction rule is simple: I will pay the value that I think the item is worth to me..period and not some zombie bid button pushing person who wants just to  win at any cost. Whether is the seller, his brother or another bidder  runs the price up of you, always follow that rule...you should be OK. The best way to buy  any serious GA is  direct Dealer or collector at a fixed price that you both agree upon.I understand the rarest of the rarest might only be available by auction...in that case you have no choice if you want to go after it, but you do have the ultimate power not to keep pushing the "bid" button.

Agreed. It's a great book, but I'm not sure what's happened to it's value over the last year. It's seeing a crazy run-up, like a minor version of what's happening to Mask #1 and #2.

I was the "undisciplined" buyer. The reason I pulled the trigger, and the book is doing so well, is you just don't see anybody with a nice copy offering it for sale. In my opinion, that's for a good reason. That particular copy is probably one of the top ten on census. It's tough because of all the black, its Bill Everett, and it usually makes every top 10 pch cover list. All that being said, was it too much money? Yup.

Oh that's confusing based on the context of your prior post. I didn't mean it negatively, it's a wicked cool book that I was watching as well, it just exceed my budget--which I'm gathering is a sliver of yours.

I'm shocked how much it's spiked in value, but you have all of the numbers behind everything so you know better than most anyone.

I was being facetious in my first post. I actually tend to agree with you about it being overpriced. My point is, what isnt these days? I feel that comparatively, it's solid compared to most other PCH  these days.

It's a nice book. A 5.5 ranks tied for 9th on census, so you are indeed correct.
