Lurker89
Just for fun a couple books in my collection which I was stoked to have only to realize when placing them in new bag and board after getting them home something was terribly wrong. ASM 101 50% off the $79.99 asking price during a big sale one of my LCS was doing. Making the price paid $40. A beat up copy for sure with spine breaks and a roll but happy to get it for a steal of $40. But then... The Horror ..... THE HORROR Next ASM 238 asking price 89.99 labeled "Missing Tattoos" Haggled it down $75 Beautiful copy Go to re bag and board.... To reveal the gnarly staple pull.... 😱😱😱 Lol all my own fault for not pulling the books out and inspecting them before the purchase. Feel free to share the Hidden Horrors you have found on books after the purchase. Communication is the path to recovery. 😂😂😂 Raze and WolverineX 1

theCapraAegagrus
I bought a sealed Absolute Edition where the slipcase was 'ripped' along the top-rear edge.

spracknetch23
I have three Ebay incidents from the past year where the books arrived with undisclosed missing pin-up pages (FF Annual 1), missing MVS (DD 131), and square cut out of a page (DD6). I always just assume sellers go through their books, count pages and look for interior defects but obviously not. On my current search for an ASM 21, I'll make sure the pin-up is present before I buy...or buy slabbed.

Yeah I plan to stick to slabs for any big books I buy, especially off the Bay Edited July 3, 2019 by Lurker89
Conacon
Buyer beware, right? I was happy to pick up the Adventure Comics issue where the Legion of Substitute Heroes 1st appeared. $5 bucks, but a really beat up copy. I didn't care though because I've never seen it out in the wild. Get home to read and rebag and find that the centerfold is gone! Even worse, the centerfold is where the story starts! Oh well! I'm sure the guy at the flea market had no idea. He didn't strike me as a reader. porcupine48

I felt the same way about the ASM 101 found it in the wild and pounced, it was beat to begin with and I knew it. $40 bucks for 1st Morbius is good no matter how I slice it. If I had bought it for full price at $80 I may have felt differently but all in all happy to have it in the collection.

My reader also has a similar problem I only figured out years later.
marvelmaniac
I had no idea that either one of those books was selling for that much, always figured they were $10 - $15 in lower grade.

Ugh as much as it has to p!$$ you off you got to laugh. These things come with the territory in this hobby and I know I have learned from getting burned (literally). I make sure to check everything now before buying and try to stick to slabs for any big keys. Conacon
Oh my... Why would someone do that??? A. Their young child wanted just the Hulk title logo. He cut it out, but then chickened out and put it back for daddy to sell without any knowledge of the cutting. B. This guy frankensteined two comics together. Picture this: he had two copies, but one had a huge tear in the upper right hand corner and the other was just jacked all over except the upper right hand corner. BlowUpTheMoon, did the seller mention the "defect"?
