Help Grade This Amazing Spider-man #14

13 posts in this topic

maybe. the right edge looks odd to me. but it's far from conclusive, and divad is usually a good judge of these things...although how one can be so definitive from a blurry scan i'll never know. poke2.gif

make sure whomever you buy from has a good return policy

1) I agree with the grade on the book;

2) I would be interested in buying it;

3) Interview the seller, not the book sumo.gif

1 - The presence of the laundry marker date stamp is a good thing. Often, marks like this can be removed cleanly with little effort. The fact that it is there may indicate that no efforts to improve the look of the book have been made, including trimming. I don't see any evidence from the scan that the book has been trimmed, but obviously, it's only a scan.

2 - Seriously, if you can get it for a good price, this is a grail for many collectors. Personally, I value this issue higher than ASM #1.

3 - It's like buying anything. Buy from someone you trust. Ask questions: What's the provenance of the book? Is the seller the original owner? Where did he buy it? Or find it? Does he know anything about it's history beyond that? Does the seller answer your questions willingly, truthfully, and in a straight-forward manner? These are the things you should rely on when spending a few hundred dollars (or more) on a comic book. grin.gif

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help. The store I'm getting it from is pretty reputable, and they have a pretty good return policy. I've got one of those 3 free express grading coupons from when I joined CGC, so I'll probably send it and 2 other books with it as soon as I get it. Thanks again! - Keith
