I have high hopes for this - but in my heart I know that this movie will be nowhere near as horny or soapy as any self-respecting X-Man adaptation should strive to be :D

I do hope they don't totally default to the 'core' original members. The general public already knows there are other members thanks to the TV show and other media, so it is fine to put in some fresh faces and explore the space (I don't want to see Beast again, can do without Angel - certainly not another poor Archangel arc even though he is my favourite - we absolutely don't need Logan in this when the new Wolverine is right there and she has been a much better overall fun character for years now. Give us Armour, Polaris, Forge, or Marrow (I also would love Sunfire and Sync, but think the visuals associated with them wouldn't be ideal right now - let Human Torch be the 'Marvel fire guy' for now and no sense including Sync if he is just copying VFX at the cost of any meaningful character development)...and Cyclops, cause he's always right.

I so wish they gave us multiple sequels of that. To me, that was one of the best X-MEN movies.

I liked Days of Future Past as well. That was a tough story to adapt with a large cast like that as well as multiple timelines/arcs and I thought they did a very good job of it.

The last two movies were this type of moment for the franchise.

Remember when Fonzie jumped the shark on Happy Days in 1977? : r/nostalgia

Still way too many good story lines to leverage if they use the issue 94-210ish characters but I guess it depends on what you grew up with and what resonates with you the most. I’d have to Google to see what Armour, Polaris and Marrow can actually do so are these kind of characters able to carry a movie for 2 hours?

There are massive amounts of stories from basically all the eras, so they could really go in any direction. I just think it wiser for them to move away from the core team which was explored already in the original films, especially if it gives them more room to show off new powers the public might not have been seeing in any comic book movie from either company (Which is why I mentioned Marrow, nothing really like her that I can think of done on screen, and Polaris would be familiar enough to the audience thanks to the Magneto parallel...the same - but different).

I grew up with reading X-Men Classic reprints (so basically the 1969 roster), yet not really attached to seeing any one team, and have already been over-exposed to the '94 crew (especially with that team being in comics for so much of the 90s). It wasn't until the Krakoa-era that I found my favourite team, both in terms of characterization and story development (Cyclops, Polaris, Wolverine, Rogue, Sunfire, Jean, Synch), but even then I would't actually want to see that team as-is on screen (I already mentioned reasons for Synch & Sunfire previously).

(thumbsu I have to add that so far Marvel hasn’t really leveraged the original Torch yet which makes me sad. Sure they teased an appearance but it might be a perfect excuse to do retro Cap Movie set back during WWII and bring in the Sub-Mariner for a classic battle.  Oh wait they ruined the Sub-Mariner for me too. :tonofbricks:

An X-Men movie without Wolverine?

two men are sitting in front of a crowd talking about strategy

That's pretty ridiculous from a business perspective.

I wonder what they have up their sleeve, because that doesn't make any sense right now.
