Literally only two of those are comic book movies - and both have already been mentioned in this thread, with Joker 2's performance being worse than each.

And if the rest of the list you pulled is "worse 2nd weekend drops of all-time" (and includes limited run re-releases) well, you've just underscored the point.

Joker 2's drop looks to be steeper than even that of noted superhero classic The Flash's -72.5%.

With the word of mouth being so bad, I can only assume that at least half of those people are going out of curiosity.

As this ever happened before with another film series, as in the first movie Joker won Oscars, a critically acclaimed and billion-dollar box office hit, while its sequel might win Razzies, critically panned, and a box office flop?

The original was only Oscar-nominated (for best song) but the drop-off between Grease and Grease 2 (starring Michelle Pfeiffer) was harsh.

It's not always about the first to the sequel that becomes a disappointment. It's also about longer franchises.
