Nice list 90s Child.  I'm surprised Robot Man didn't mention you overlooked one of the toughest-to-find Avon PCH books (he said he was chasing Avons 50 years ago), the remaindered Secret Diary of Eerie Adventures.  Thanks for creating this topic.

Good catch. I glazed over the list a little and missed it. It should be definately on it. Although, a fairly boring cover and fairly boring contents, it does have a cool Kubert story and is indeed quite scarce. I picked mine up years ago because it was horror, Avon and an annual. Have never been real impressed with it. And, thusly,never saw it worth spending the money to upgrade it.

Also, probably missing off the list. If you are including the later part of the Sensation run, you should probably include Star Spangled #122-130 with Ghost Breaker. He had pushed off Robin and Tomahawk off the covers by then. Was part of DC's effort to cash in on the horror boom. This reminds me, I need to replace that #129 with one with a cover...

Which do you consider the wildest or most graphic?  Then again, I think I'd still prefer quality artists over gory ones.  I do think Wally Wood at EC stands out as some of the best art out there, he's great at fine details.
As far as buying originals I'm a bit undecided, even a nice graded 7.0-8.0 range seems to bring $500-$1000 a piece at a minimum.

As far as reprints it seems like most titles are well represented nowadays either with dark horse archives or PS artbooks, here's a sample of a few of the nice hardcovers out there.

Again, EC is top of the heap. If you like Wood, Avon has some nice wood art although stories are a bit bland. For sheer gore and shock value (insn't this what these are all about?), I recommend Story, Gilmore, Comic Media, Charlton, Youthful and honorable mention to Farrell and Superior. Most all of those are well worth my dime!

And you don't even want to open the Crime door...

There is an eBay seller I've bought from who offers both photocopy 8-1/2 x 11, and replica (actual size) comic books.  It's a very inexpensive way to break into this (or fill a hole in a run W/O taking out a second mortgage, lol);

You can also read most un-copyrighted books online at these two sites;

 https://readcomiconline.to/

The second link has Atlas comics that aren't on the first.

Since I buy to read, I can read most books on-line first, to decide if I want to plunk down my pennies for the real thing.

Since you are new to this genre, let me give you a tip. Buy some raw copies to actually read. Slabbed copies, unless you have a reader is just a waste. These books are ment to be read. If you have the urge to own a slabbed one, do so after you find some you really want and have actually read. They just aren't like your run of the mill SA or BA superhero books. They are like fine wine...
