[CLOSED] River City Pedigree Sale. All RC, Only RC !

Hi, all.  Brian Peets and I thought it might be fun to change things up a bit.  This time around, we'll be offering a huge selection of books from the pedigreed River City Collection.  Brian first showcased portions of this incredible collection at the 1998 WonderCon.  Fortunately for you, two boxes of books from this collection found their way into the A-1 Comics vault, where they soon became buried under more recent acquisitions.

This sale will include about 250 River City copies -- all stuff that went straight from the original owner's widow to Brian.  Most River City books have a characteristic and widely-recognized handwritten arrival date on the front cover.  However, many do not.  Hence, a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) signed by Brian will be included with each and every issue.  All books will be raw, but there will be scores of potential CGC top-census or #2-census copies.  Most books will be quite affordable (some will be priced as low as $5).  Our current plan is to list about 250 books over a 9-day period, according to the following schedule:

Day-1:  ACG & Atlas (various genres)
Day-2:  DC (various genres)
Day-3: 1942-44 Dell, David McKay, and United Features (funny animal and newspaper-strip reprints)
Day-4: 1950s Dell (excluding Four Color issues)
Day-5: 1940s & 1950s Dell Four Color Series 2
Day-6: EC (various genres)
Day-7: Gilberton (Classic Comics & Classics Illustrated)
Day-8: Atomic Age Part 1 (various publishers & genres)
Day-9: Atomic Age Part 2 (various publishers & genres)

Payment to A-1 Comics may be by PayPal, Cashier’s Check, USPS Money Order, business/personal check (but please allow up to ten days for your check to clear), or cash (in-store pickup only).  Payment must be received within seven calendar days of being invoiced (unless other arrangements have been agreed to via PM).  All books will be shipped from A-1 Comics within three business days of your payment (fully insured with delivery or signature confirmation).  The exact cost of shipping will be added to your order.  Returns will be cheerfully accepted (provided that you alert me to the return via PM within one week of receipt), but the cost of shipping and return shipping will be on you.  International buyers are welcomed.  Miscreants, wankers, and folks currently on probation are not.

Post the :takeit: within the selling thread to claim your prize.  Happy hunting!

The fellow who assembled what is now known as the River City Collection was a hoarder rather than a comic collector.  His home was overflowing with all manner of ephemera (comics, magazines, paperbacks), hardware and tools (most still in their original blister packs or boxes), model trains, and much, much more.  Most of his comic books were probably read once, if at all.

A portion of the comic collection was stored outside his main home (in the carport, shop, and various sheds).  Some of these books were damaged by insects (primarily termites, although I've seen an occasional silverfish nibble), rodents, and moisture.  Some "outside" books have stains/tidelines from direct contact with water, while others have staple rust as a result of ambient atmospheric moisture (humidity).  Nearly all of the comics are super-clean, with bright cover inks and fresh white, near-white, or off-white-to-white pages.

First book coming right up!
