The 2 most underpriced timelys Cap 1 and Cap3..well the secret is out on those and anybody who can grab any copy should do so, I still like MM 3 over MM9 however. Cat-Man_America
Too-much-time-on-my-hands post, ...think of it as the traditional clip episode in a cliffhanger serial. Combined post reprising my subjective top twenty Timely list with scans and one correction (it's MM#28, not #38)... All Winners #19 & 21 (first & last All Winners Squad issues, there can be only two) Spoiler Red Raven #1 (classic one shot S&K project) Spoiler Human Torch #5 (epic 60 page Torch/Subby battle issue with classic Schomburg cover) Spoiler Captain America #1, 2 & 3 (1. origin with first Red Skull, 2. first round shield and 3. Schomburg Red Skull cover; S&K) Spoiler Marvel Comics 1 (origins, first Marvel comic) Marvel Mystery #2 (first WWII nazi combat and title) Spoiler Marvel Mystery #3 (first familiar masthead, first Schomburg MM cover) Spoiler Mystic Comics #1 (first series, pulp swipe cover by Alex Schomburg; would be swiped again by Syd Shores for Mystic 2nd series) Spoiler Mystic Comics Vol. 2 #2 (classic Nazi giant skeletal mad Doctor harassing women on tandem slabs with hypodermic needle) Spoiler Marvel Mystery #8, 9, & 10 (Torch/Subby battle opens at the end of 7 and continues through 10 before moving over to HT Comics) Spoiler Marvel Mystery #28 (Torch battles garish underworld creatures led by robed klansman while rescuing distressed damsel dangling over acid) Spoiler Marvel Mystery #46 (colander torture themed classic cover featuring green Hitler with an ear-worm leading subterranean zombies) Spoiler Marvel Mystery 66 (final WWII issue with Imperial Japanese air force's last ditch effort to fly a death ray over NYC ... obviously one of my faves) Spoiler Daring Mystery 1 (Sci-fi cover with babe tied to front fender of a Newmobile; first Schomburg cover for Timely) Captain America's Weird Tales #74 (Cap battles the Red Skull in purgatory; one devil of a series ender) Spoiler To better illustrate my list, the two earlier posts have been combined and underscored with spoilers provided & most labels (deflated wallet and one image courtesy of Heritage). If it gets boring, just switch channels and have another beer... Edited May 10, 2020 by Cat-Man_America Cheers! None All winners 12 This is an interesting perspective that removes subjectivity from the equation. Apparently, these are the most sought after books by Timely collectors that are least found on dealer walls. One can have a nuanced debate over the merits of any book or series of books based on personal preferences, but supply and demand is where the rubber meets the road.
